When you are at home, you might have your own clear aligner routine. You perfected it to the point where you can clean them and your teeth effectively and efficiently. If you have a trip coming up, then you might wonder how you can keep up with your Invisalign treatment. While you might not be able to take your whole setup, here are four tips to make travelling with your trays a bit easier.
1.) Pack Your Dental Essentials
If you have travelled before, then you likely made a bathroom kit with your shampoo, soap, and oral hygiene products. The good news is that packing this is still helpful with your clear aligners! However, it might not be a bad idea to create a second, smaller pouch. Keeping a travel toothbrush, mini toothpaste, mouthwash, and floss with you can make sure you always have what you need on hand while on the go.
2.) Get Your Full Wear Time
A trip for leisure can be what you need after working hard. You get to put everything behind you and revel in the comfort of being in a new area with no worries. However, since you can be carefree, that doesn’t mean you should get behind on your treatment. You will still need to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, so it’s important to set alarms and timers when it’s time to eat. These can help remind you to put your trays back in afterward.
3.) Look Ahead at Your Treatment
Travelling for weeks or months at a time can be exciting, but you need to make sure you bring spare aligners. If you don’t, then you’ll have to wear the same set for longer than planned, meaning you’ll likely delay your treatment. Bringing an extra case can also help ensure you can keep them protected!
4.) Have Spare Water Bottles
The restrooms that you’ll have access to, whether in an airplane or at gas station stops, may not be the cleanest. Many people get grossed out using the sinks in these spaces, so having bottles of water is a good workaround. You can simply use them when you need to brush and keep your smile fresh.
While you are likely excited about your upcoming trip, it’s important to keep up with your Invisalign treatment. Follow these four simple tips above and get to a grin that you feel more confident in!
